Big kids, or first kids, are more likely to get fat. That's what a University of Auckland study claims in New Zealand.
The study was conducted based on a champion of 13 thousand pairs of sisters, analyzed from birth to adulthood, while the results were published in the science magazine Journal of Epidemiology.
Researchers estimated a greater chance of being overweight by 29% and obesity by 40%, in relation to the second child. Among the main causes are reports of parents, where older children receive more attention.
Early children are also in danger of developing more diseases, such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome. This may depend on the flow of blood on the newborn's plancate from the first pregnancy to others.
The first kids in the blood veins are closer. This brings less flow, causing the first child to accumulate more fat, making insulin” less efficient, says researcher Wayne Cutfield, docent of endocrinology at the University of Auckland.
