Meetings were held during high tensions between the US and Iran due to the nuclear programme and the collapse of an American fears by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard last week.
British Foreign Ministry office announced today that Minister of State for the Middle East Andrew Murrison said his visit was meant to discuss openly and constructively with his Iranian counterparts.
He said it includes a repeat of the British assessment that Iran is almost undoubtedly responsible for the recent attacks on tanks in Oman Bay, which Iran denies.
The diplomat added that Iran must continue to fulfil its obligations under the 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers, which the administration of President Donald Trump withdrew a year ago before paralyzing sanctions were restored in that country.
