A Marxist-Leninist political party has called on it to stop the Chernobyl television mini-serve in Russia, calling it an inflammatory “”.
In a statement, party member Sergey Malinkovich spoke of the party's intentions to lobby at the Roskomnandor television regulator for the way the series presents Russia, translate Periscope from The Independent.
The party will demand that the regulator block access, adding that the series “turns tragedy into an object of ideological manipulation by demonising the Soviet regime and Soviet residents”.
Maxist-leninists have also called on him to accuse Chernobyli's writer of slander, along with the director and producer.
Malinkoviqi, however, has acknowledged that the series correctly presents key moments in the nuclear disaster.
This response comes after the announcement of the Russian version of the series that has already been ordered, partly financed by the culture ministry.
This series has so far received the highest marks from its critics. /Periscope
