There were also those who shared the news with scepticism.
But the Minister of European Integration, at the same time a member of the PDK Steering Council, suggests Wessel's decision will not turn back, as according to her is the party's unanimous decision.
It says to have done so to establish a new standard, which is expected to restore the hope and trust of Kosovo citizens.
“After the end of the domestic elections we have come up with the party programme, and Chairman Wessel has wanted to adopt a new standard in politics making. The time has come for us to set standards so that people with charges are not in institutions because they have the burden of responsibility. Those who are in public office and serve citizens must be much more responsible, and Chairman Wessel has wanted and will not stop, has done so in the party, not only in public positions, ministers and deputy ministers. I believe it's a very good principle and all other parties should be respected, because at last we can fight crime and corruption with results of”, Hoxha told EO.
Asked whether this decision applies to coalition partners, Hoxha has said the standard set by Wessel should be an example for all parties.
It says the future coalition will be formed on the basis of that decision.
“Chairman Wessel has indicated that this will not be a requirement only for his party. Chairman Wessel has stated that the request of purity or that we fight crime and corruption and persons in public office to be clean persons without accusation is something that he will ask from other parties. He also pointed out at the media conference that even coalition partners in the future when you want to go to the elections, it will be crucial to whom the coalitions will be connected, because we all have to get together to work in this direction”, she says.
Hoxha says that from now on in public posts they will be able to recruit only persons with a clean past. Nepotism and corruption under it will no longer have place in public institutions.
All the reforms that we're making, those reforms are praised, but then with decisions that we get when we have people who are on fair charges, or nepotism that is another challenge that we have to face for people, persons in public positions, in the recruiting processes to be, people who deserve that post. So let's not have issues which are then interventions or people who don't deserve that post to take the” position.
Wessel's decision to dislodge those with an indictment has affected some personalities who have political weight inside The PDK, however, says Hoxha will not influence the vote.
He says the PDK is not dependent on the individual.
And those people have heard their statement, we've all agreed that it's time to set a new standard. As for the vote, The PDK is not a party of individual or individual. The PDK is a whole where all of us are members and we try to do our best in order to respond to citizens' demands. We have recently seen that citizens have really begun to lose faith, and that decision by President Wessel is right for citizens of the Republic of Kosovo”.
We remember that right after Wessel's decision, due to the indictment, Minister of Innovation Besim Beqaj resigned. Also resigned was Deputy Defence Minister Agim Ceku, on whom charges of manipulation in the “Venterians” case
