I really want to buy a Louis Vuitton Neverhead bag. The most economic idea would be to wait for the landings, since there are no bags of this brand below 1,000 dollars. But there's a problem with this idea of luxury French brands never makes a discount. Why?
When Henry Racamier took over the Louis Vuitton brand, he did a methodology called vertical integration: Which means LV had full control from production until goods were sold to customers.
Racamier caused the LV brand products not to be sold at any other store that was not Louis. When Louis sold retail products, stores placed higher prices and benefited large sums of money. Recamier stopped allowing this.
Louis sells products only at his stores at high prices. So all the money is for them and they don't need to sell retail.
They can control it more easily when a product is not popular, so with full control in production, they stop its production, but they never lower the price.
So if you hear someone say there's a discount in LV, it's probably gonna be a myth.
