The government commission for recognition and verification of the status of these people has so far accepted over 968 applications by those who claim to be victims of sexual violence.
A year ago, gynecologist Denis Mukwege, who deals with victims of sexual violence in Congo and Nadia Murad, human rights activists and survivors of sexual slavery from the militant group, the Islamic State in Iraq, have been the winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has said to have shared the award because of their contribution to ending the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war.
