Kocijanciq: Everyone's asking for tax removal, no other way but to resume dialogue

Pristina and Belgrade must return to the dialogue table as soon as possible and reach a comprehensive legal agreement, meaning the full normalisation of relations between the two countries. So Maja Kocijancic said, adding that the European Union's top representative, Federica Moghrini, surely wants the two countries to start discussions [...]
“Pristina and Belgrade must return to the dialogue table and move forward with a comprehensive legal agreement, which would fully normalise relations between them. This would be the best way to ensure that the entire region benefits from this reconciliation, which would mean profit from regional integration and economic development in the region”, Kocijancic said.
EU High Representative Kocijacic's spokeswoman, in an answer to Koha.net, said the EU once again, along with all member states and the US, calls on the Government of Kosovo to suspend the tax and resume dialogue.
There is no other option for quick restart of dialogue between the parties. The tax is not only the reason for blocking the dialogue, but also the reason for the impasse towards Kosovo's” European road, she said further.
She also added that Serbia should also carry out its share, including its international relations, to pave the way for a favourable dialogue.
I remember once again, as Moghrin has said, that the outcome of the process of normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia is urgent, because the current situation not only promotes instability, but also means losing. It means losing foreign investment for both countries. Economic growth depends on investor confidence, confidence in the future, trust in good neighbourly relations, trust in public authorities by focusing on the business climate and turning the page of legacy of the past”, Kocijacic told Koha.net.
Asked also about Mogherin's stance on the Paris Summit, which is expected to be held in July, but which is puzzled about the results, Kocijancic said that the meeting in Berlin, and that in Paris, could be meetings that provide good opportunities for the region and that, in fact, are also in the interest of the European Union.
“We welcome any commitments made, especially in support of the EU facilitated dialogue. With dialogue facilitated by the EU, Belgrade and Pristina have decided to put aside their differences and seek sustainable solutions”, Kocijancic said, not commenting further on the upcoming meeting at the Paris Summit.
We remember that Kosovo has started preparations for the Paris summit, held on 1 July, as the continuation of the Berlin Summit. There, this time the topic will be Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, where efforts are put forth to reach a final agreement between the two countries. Although there is still no draft written for an eventual agreement, even in Pristina and Belgrade are sceptical, if the Paris meeting could result in any agreement, because the parties have diametrically opposed positions.
At the Paris meeting on July 1st, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are in charge.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Chief Parliament Speaker Kadri Veselini, Foreign Affairs Minister Behgjet Pacolli, Negotiator Team with Shpend Ahmeti and Fatmir Limaj, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq with his team will participate.
Days ago, the Government of Kosovo said the Paris Summit could also fail, but not because of Kosovo, but since Serbia has conditioned continuation of dialogue with the removal of the tax, although it has said Kosovo is more than ready for this meeting.
On the other hand, today Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, blamed the Albanian side, has added that “is safe 99 percent that there will be no Sam in Paris”.
I can say for a certainty 99 percent that there will be no Paris summit, since I think Albanians are unwilling to talk about anything important”, Vuciq said, broadcast Koha.net.
