Before judging, read on. Because it could happen to you too...
I forgot once buffer in nine days.
Yeah, yeah. I had a tampon inside my vagina for nine days and had no idea.
I know you're probably wondering how this happened, so I'll show you.
The first sign that something was going wrong was the weird secretions. Everything else went well, so I thought the secretions would stop themselves soon.
But it didn't.
The other indicator of a problem was the unpleasant smell that continued to deteriorate. It took time to figure out where this smell was coming from.
I thought it was my underwear, so I changed them too. I thought I needed a shower, but even the shower didn't help.
I was not entirely sure that the wind was coming from my vagina, so I did not immediately approach the doctor. Instead, I tried to control myself physically, but I saw nothing wrong.
Then, after I had had sex with my boyfriend, I asked him about the wind, only to see if my greatest fear was true, he acknowledged that yes, my vagina smelled very bad.
After a check, we noticed that there was something to the womb. I was surprised. Then the tampon came out. A terrible wind swept through the room. I have never felt worse in my life. I started to cry.
How could I have forgotten a tampon there?
I was extremely fortunate that I didn't have any symptoms of shock toxic syndrome (TSS), which could happen when a buffer is left in a long time.
Before this happened to me, I was very judgmental when I heard stories about women who had taken TSS or lost tampon or condom inside themselves. I couldn't believe it was possible for this to happen with someone and I thought it was disgusting that someone could have hygiene so bad that they wouldn't know they had something stuck in their vagina.
This experience taught me that it can and does. It happened to me, someone who was educated in her body. It happened to me and I had no idea. I now have compassion and sensitivity for people who find themselves in similar situations; I am also grateful that my outcome was not as bad or frightening as it could have been.
