The leader of the Serbian List has considered this a great obligation.
This is a huge obligation, not just for me, but for all of you who are in the Assembly, to be even better at the work we do and to write progress in the lives of our fellow citizens, first of all, to live in peace and help you in every respect, Rakiq said, after taking the solemn oath. ”, writes Radio Contact Plus.
It is not known if the three other mayors of the Northern Communists have taken the oath.
These elections have followed the resignations of mayors of these municipalities, on November 26th of last year, in protest of the Kosovo Government's decision to impose a 100 per cent tax on imports of Serbia and Bosnia.
This tax is also used as an excuse by Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, for not continuing the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which is conducted with the European Union's mediation in Brussels.
Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has insisted that this tax will remain in force until Serbia recognises Kosovo's citizenship.
