Milk is indeed the best drink to calm your mouth after eating a burning meal.
Although milk has long been considered the perfect antidote to a fiery plate, very few research has been conducted to test this idea.
But a team from Pennsylvania State University asked 72 adults to drink pepper-based tomato juice and then try different drinks, including milk, water, cola and non-alcohol beer, to turn off the heat.
The findings showed that the best results came from milk.
Scientists say milk was most effective and they believe the effects of cooling comes from proteins in milk production.
