The report, recently published by the United Nations Organisation for Investments in the World, ranks Serbia first with $4.1 billion followed third by Northern Macedonia with $737m, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The positive foreign direct investment level situation is mainly linked to two giant projects under way in our country, which are gas pipelines. TAP and the construction of hydropower plants over Devall. While other investments are being expanded in different sectors of the economy by foreign entrepreneurs.
Even in the first months of this year, institutions formalised the positive performance of the growing foreign investment train, which affected the growth of this index by 2%.
The Bank of Albania in the report released recently revealed that total foreign investments amounted to 286m euros for the first quarter of 2019.
Investments in the country are focused on energy and extraction industry and another part in textile industry, construction, financial system etc., which impact direct employment growth.
While recent figures from INSTAT show that Albania leads with the largest number of foreign enterprises from European Union countries, where they dominate Italian and Greek.
