When asked if the KSF can go north, he said “This is an issue that has been very much discussed with NATO states. They were called in the 2013 statements when we received international permission to go north. But now we've got another mandate”.
At KTV's Rubik, Berisha has said the challenges he faces north are not for KSF intervention, but for fighting organised crime.
We assess the situation and environment in northern Kosovo. The challenge in the north is not for KSF intervention, but fighting organised crime and parallel structures. It is not a task directly related to KSF”, he said.
On the other hand, he added that no one can stop KSF from heading north.
There are no restrictions currently needed. No one can stop the KSF if the country's territorial integrity is violated. If Kosovo's security is violated on the outside, KSF is heading north. The internal tasks are the responsibility of Kosovo institutions. There is no country that has recognised us only to the Iber River, but has recognised Kosovo's territory 100 percent”, he added.
Our goal is to integrate into NATO. See KFOR's NATO as an enemy, but we want to become part of it. We want peace in the region”.
