The British giant decided to take this step to cut costs and advance in the race to produce electric cars for the massive market.
Companies say they will work together to develop electric engines, gear boxes in the recent alliance designed to meet the challenges presented by electric vehicles and vehicles without drivers.
They will invest jointly in research and development, engineering and procurement to support the wide production of electric cars, enabling consumers to give up their gasoline and oil cars.
JLR technical director Nick Rodgers said time is changing and that consumers are increasingly interested in electric vehicles, so it is important to work on advanced technology.
BMW Managing Board member Klaus Frohlich said the two companies together will have the opportunity to more efficient meet consumer needs by cutting development time and faster deployment of vehicles and the latest technologies on the market.
BMV is one of the largest automobile producers to have launched a fully electric car, and JLR also has an electric car, while both companies have a series of hybrid models.
