If confirmed, this could be the biggest protest in Hong Kong's history.
Police said the turnout peak was 338,000.
The move was made, though the bill that would allow Hong Kong's extradition to continental China was suspended on Saturday.
Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam on Sunday apologized for the draft proposal.
Many protesters, who fear growing Chinese influence over Hong Kong, are urging her to resign for the riots.
They are also demanding that the law be abolished, not only suspended.
Today's “Marriage had almost two million people --”, Jimmy Shamm, from the protest group of the Human Rights Front, told reporters on Sunday evening.
