About one in eight women develop invasive breast cancer at one point in their lives, and health professionals expect more than 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer in 2016. While breast cancer rates have declined significantly in the past two decades, breast cancer is the second most common diagnosed in women (before skin cancer) and kills more women than all cancers, except lung cancer, according to the BreastCancer.org.

1. The unusual field under the arm: During your monthly visit, take time to look under your wings if you see any unusual swelling.
2. Skin tamed: Look at the breast skin if it's softer or irritated.
3. Skin changes about nipples: Note the difference in color, shape, or skin design around your nipple area, as this may indicate the presence of cancer cells.

4. An unusual swelling of a bay: It's normal to have breasts that aren't identical to each other, but any unusual swelling should be considered.
5. Enlarging glands: Expanding the glands in either breast or under the wings may indicate cancer or another type of infection and should be examined by your doctor.
