The head of the Republic of Kosovo's Parliament, Kadri Veselin, today in Dubrava, on the note of the 20th anniversary of the Dubrava Massacre, carried out by Serb forces over former Albanian prisoners, has said that the mass murder of our people in this prison is one of the most clear evidence showing the organisation, platform and planning of the genocide of the Serbian state in Kosovo.

Ahead of hundreds of families killed in this massacre, its survivors and other attendees, Wessel said this day of commemoration is thought to be behind the decision of the Republic of Kosovo to initiate the International Tribunal for Serbian genocide in Kosovo.

Wessel said that this cruel crime, prepared and accomplished in complete calm, covers one of the most inhumane dimensions of the Serbian state, while the evidence of the free survivors can be described as evidence of hell on earth.

“The gathering of all Albanian convicts to one country, even gathering all those in Kosovo where the Serbian political, police and military authorities' company for the disappearance of Albanians was in wide operation -- is the exact reflection of this genocide”, Veselin stressed, adding that Serbia has committed genocide in Kosovo in an organised way, and that Serbia still has no minimal qualm to back from its criminal past.

Wessel said that it becomes even easier for Serbia, as “we make the easiest choice: we face each other instead of facing Serbia”.

I meet a concept that believes in freedom, right and reconciliation. I have fought the Serbian state and I am proud that our people have managed to gain freedom. As witnesses and participants, I want to say a fact that we all know: our prayers and good manners did not stop Serbia in its company in the murder of our innocent people and mass expulsion. But, the righteous fight of our people, with the Kosovo Liberation Army at the helm, supported by the US and our international partners, did so and removed the evil from this country”, Chairman Veselin added.

He said that today Kosovo needs clear and secure perspective, but it is difficult to think about the future, bearing and still suffering the consequences of the past.

We can't go on the same thing every year, with the same words and the same powerlessness. We dare not risk our children's future by sowing a spirit of surrender. That's how we're only threatened to repeat history. The state of Kosovo must act specifically to seek justice for the Serbian genocide in Kosovo. The institutional decision to address our nation's pain, with clear demands for itself, Serbia and the international community, is necessary. I am sure of the Western world's support for this”, Veselin said, adding that the rite of mourning year-on-year at the anniversary of massacres must be over, and bringing to justice and causes of our pain must begin.

He said Kosovo should become an operational state, seeking and establishing justice, not only statistics and numbers of pain.

Kosovo must be prepared, putting justice in the country for Serbian genocide, even for life in good neighborhoods, both at peace with everyone and with Serbia. To this shed blood in this country and to all who have fallen for the freedom of this land, we owe the living to remind, but to work even harder so that the past will never be restored and we will work to have a secure future every day for our children. Until the International Tribunal for Serbian genocide in Kosovo will happen. It is inevitable and there is no force that can stop”, Wessel said.

Following the chairman at the ceremony, survivors of the Dubrava massacre have also spoken, who sought local and international justice to judge Serb criminals.

Frenchman Sebastian Grikhu also said Kosovo must act and seek justice for Serb massacres. He said that raising Serbian crimes indictments does not harm Kosovo politically, rather strengthens it.

He invited all parties to be together in the initiative for the formation of the International Tribunal for Serbian Crimes.
