Vuk Draskovqi's party, the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO), considers that the frozen conflict in Kosovo is against the interests of Serbia and the Serbian people, and that this would be freezing Serbia's agony and destruction.
As Serbian media report, Draskovic's party's leadership estimates that the frozen conflict leaves Serbia and the Serbian people in a volcano, which can at any moment erupt.
The frozen conflict is freezing Serbia's agony and destruction. In these matters national and state interests, reason has to prevail over emotions. We must not be led by ignorance, hatred, anger, passion, even if it is imposed by many. Decisions should be taken wisely, in line with Serbia's long-term interests”, Telegrafi says in the statement.
The SPO presidency has declared that unless Kosovo's problem is resolved, the flames of war can be kindled, not only between Serbs and Albanians, but also in northern Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. ”
“If we now do not reach agreement [with Kosovo], we charge the people and the country for many years to come, but also future generations, with the risk that a later solution will be much more unfavourable for us”, the statement said.
The SPO is further said to support Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq's commitment to reaching a permanent solution to the Kosovo issue with EU assistance
