Conrad Black, former media mogul who owned the prestigious Daily Telegraph and The Spectator before being imprisoned for fraud, was pardoned by Donald Trump, American president shortly after he wrote a book praising the latter.
The Briton was once known for his extravagant life until he led the international news empire that included Chicaco Sun and Jerusalem Post. But he ended up spending three and a half years in prison after being sentenced in 2007 for stealing millions of dollars from the sale of newspapers the company controlled translates Periscope from The Guardian.
Since his release, Black has been trying to clear his name. Last year he published a book entitled “Donald Trump: President like no other” who wrote that “Trumpi was actually neither racist, sexist, promotive violence, nor fraud”. He suggested that the president had actually been misunderstood.
Trump had personally called Black to inform him of his full presidential forgiveness.
A White House spokesman said the decision was made due to Black's large contributions to the lips and politics. /Periscope
