Taiwan's Parliament has become the first in Asia to legalise same-sex marriage after a vote Friday.
In 2017 the constitutional court decided that couples of the same sex had the right to marry legally.
Parliament was given a two-year deadline and was asked to pass the changes by 24 May.
Lawmakers debated three different laws to legalise the same progressive sex unions of which were adopted.
Hundreds of supporters gathered outside the building in Taipei's capital to await the historic decision.
