Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has declared that new elections will be held in Greece after his SYRIZA party was defeated in the European Parliament race Sunday.
Tsipras said he would ask the Greek president to disperse the Greek parliament immediately after the second round of local elections to be held in Greece.
The “wasn't the conclusion we predicted. Election results give the opposition the right to question the legitimacy of the government”, Tsipras said.
So far the New Democracy party has received 33.3% of the vote in Greece. SYRIZA is second in 23.9%.
The Nazi-based anti-Albanian Party Golden Dawn has received 4.8% of the vote.
The country is expected to enter new national elections during the summer.
