Iraq's withdrawal of the non-substantial American diplomatic body is motivated by a possible threat to direct Iran, senior American responsible today.
This threat is real”, said one of these U.S. State Department responsibles, citing the risk posed by Iraqi militia under command and controlled by the Iranian Revolution Guardians, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The U.S. State Department ordered today that some of the diplomatic personnel leave the US Embassy in Baghdad and Erbali's consulate, in a context of mounting tensions with neighbouring Iran.
Washington has stepped up pressure on Tehran these past days with the strengthening of military presence in Gulf countries, with the claim of disturbing threats and clear signals of Iranian preparations for attacks against American interests in the region.
