Democracy in Action has prepared 100 observers to monitor elections in the north

Pre-election campaigns started on Monday for the extraordinary elections for the chairmanship of four municipalities in the country's north -- Leposaviq, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Northern Mitrovica -- held on May 19th.
The election campaign will begin and continue until May 17th, while these elections will be monitored by over 100 observers of the organisation Democracy in Action.
Eugene Calcolly from Democracy to Action (DnV), said they are prepared to monitor elections in the four northern municipalities.
The first pre-election campaign day has been quiet”, he says.
According to him, the Serb community's voters are a bit different. The “in all will have over 100 monitors”, he said.
Otherwise, the Central Election Commission has hired 670 commissioners for extraordinary elections for mayors of four municipalities in the country's north to be held 19 May.
Commissioners will be engaged in 44 polling stations at a total of 87 polling stations.
Votering rights in northern Mitrovica have 22 242; in Leposaviq 18 390 people in Zvecan 9,276 people; and in Zubin Potok 8 612 people.
The country's president, Hashim Thaci, has announced elections for Kosovo's four northern municipalities following the resignation that Serbian leaders had staged in protest of the 100 per cent tax on products originating from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
