The brown bear (ursus arctos) is one of the animals found on nearly every continent in the world. It is one of the largest earthly members of the Carnivora order, for which rival has only his neighbor, the polar bear.
But have you ever wondered why this large animal found in many lands is killed?
Some bears are very often subjected to illegal hunting. They may be killed for their talons, skin, or even other meat - and, in particular, organs used in traditional medicine, writes Metro.
The Murme Bear liver can be seen in the highest yellow picture.
And when it comes to conventional medicine, the brown bear's liver is most used in this field, which costs nothing less than 12,000 euros. So at least it says in an HSUS report.
“Medical and bilinary drugs prepared by the liver of the brown bear are used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of diseases, including fever, liver disease, concession, diabetes, and heart disease”, the report writes.
However, their killing has been done, and it continues in some lands today to be done illegally. That's mostly for organ trafficking.
And the report released during 2013 has shown that the bear's liver is of high value on the black market of between 5,000 and 12,000 euros, depending on the body's weight and size.
