Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said that if presidential elections fail, constitutional changes will be recorded in order for the president of the settlement in the assembly to be elected or the provision removed.
Zaev, however, voiced confidence that the elections will be successful. Prime Minister Zaev also talked about presidential elections, campaign financing, rising salaries and the economy, leaving citizens and nepotism.
“I am convinced the elections will be successful. I'm 99 percent sure they'll be successful. Especially at the end of the first round of campaign, I see it. Decisions ultimately depend on citizens, not politicians and political parties. Even if someone decides to boycott the second circle, citizens will come out and reach 40 per cent, there will be tresus”.
The executive head in northern Macedonia also spoke of opportunities if the president's direct election fails.
This is my impression. The constitution, however, does not determine how long after it takes. But the universe, there are two other possibilities, changing the Constitution. One option is to remove the provision and the other possibility is for the president of the state to be elected in the Assembly. These are the options we have available. I said I'm a supporter of the idea that the president is elected in the Assembly, because so I hear from the citizens, so they say, “people do this stuff”
However, Northern Macedonia's prime minister stressed, among other things, that this is his personal position.
We certainly couldn't do this before these elections. But first of all, I'm telling you, my personal attitude, I haven't consulted the party, is that we should be rational in everything”.
