The country's president, Hashim Thaci, says the Berlin meeting will be the continuation of Germany and France's interest in Kosovo and the region.
Thaci via Facebook reports there will be no plan proposed for the Kosovo-Serbia agreement at this meeting. While he denied that there is a secret agenda behind this meeting.
“: Furthermore, there is no hidden agenda behind this meeting. We expect that, in the end, this meeting will result in a general rhetorical statement, previously agreed among the participants, which will also reconfirm at least the European perspective of our region, deepening reforms especially in the rule of law, and highlight the necessity of normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia”, the president writes on Facebook.
The president says it would be depressing if France and Germany do not harmonise their positions on the visa liberalisation decision for Kosovo citizens.
The “for Kosovo would be extremely depressing if, even at this meeting, France and Germany, fail to harmonise their positions on the decision to liberalise visas for our citizens. Kosovo remains the only isolated country in Europe. Therefore, talking about Kosovo's European perspective, even rhetorically only, is more than hypocrisy”, the president has written.
