Tahiri: The biggest challenge was to bring nine orphans back from Syria to Kosovo

Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri at “Debat Plus” with Ermal Pandur at RTV Dukajini has for the first time talked about details about the return action of 110 Kosovars from Syria. Tahiri has said the number of Kosovo citizens returning to Kosovo before the April 19th action has been greater than [...]
Tahiri has said the number of Kosovo citizens returned to Kosovo before the 19 April action has been greater than in the action taken by the state of Kosovo.
“They are turned into different forms. Some of them have fallen into Interpol's hands, others have fallen into the hands of Turkish forces, and others have turned to the horrors they have experienced in war zones”.
“ ...The number of returnees before April 19th is about 135. They have returned without any organisation, but someone may have been assisted by the state of Kosovo. It is estimated that about 60 Kosovars we think are alive are still in war zones. Some of them have been captured by the Assad regime, while there are women still remaining there”.
The justice minister has said some details cannot be made public to preserve the lives of those who remain there.
“We have launched action in the month of October last year. AKI, the Ministry of Justice, Kosovo Police have had no clear picture. We've worked on understanding how many of them are imprisoned, how many prisoners of war, women, and children. I can say that AKI and the police have done a great job. Now we have a clear profile for everyone who's in war zones”, he said.
Tahiri has said that 63 people in Kosovo have so far been convicted of terrorism.
He has said that from the Kosovo state operation in Syria, it has been a very serious problem to return nine orphans, who were killed at both parents in Syria.
These last three weeks I've personally had trauma. It was a situation where we had great responsibility. The great challenge has been the return of nine orphans without a parent. We faced a big challenge because they had no identification documents. We did not want to take on a plane children who were not of Kosovo”, Abelard Tahiri said, among other things.
