The prosecution has called for the appointment of house arrest measures for women who had stayed in conflict areas in Syria, while their defence has opposed it, saying they need rehabilitation and standing with their children.
Kimete Krasniqi, lawyer of one of the women under investigation, has said she has rejected the appointment of house arrest, since her defense was deceived by the husband.
We're in the initial phase of the investigation, there's nothing that has proved to be a criminal offense, but according to the prosecution's suspicions with her participation she did that work, but it's not because my defense was deceived by her husband, now feeling, who was killed after three months of stay there, and who carried out guards according to my defense. I rejected the prosecution's request for house arrest because my protection is under a 5-year-old boy and for whom no one has to take care of”, she said.
While Arbnor Zeqiri, another lawyer, said the prosecution so far has not presented evidence with which conditions for the appointment of this move are met.
“We have as a defence rejected this house arrest measure because the prosecution so far has not presented evidence with which conditions for the appointment are met, taking into account the circumstances of these women who have returned from Syria. And also because these women are family, with children, most of them live without men, some of them have lost their mates, and the need to be close to the family and to care for their children is more than necessary”, she said.
According to the defence, limiting the freedom of these women would negatively affect the resocialisation and care of themselves and their children. Women, who were in the fifth of the 110 Kosovars the Kosovo state has returned to the country last week, are suspected to have committed criminal participation and organisation in the terrorist group.
