The leaders of this social network have accepted the scandal, saying that data flow took place through a system designed to verify the identity of new users.
Facebook has asked users to access an e-mail account and make a copy of their contacts.
On Facebook they say they have now changed the way to control new users without the need to collect contact information,
The data collected without consent was quickly erased, Facebook representatives said.
The collected information is believed to be used to identify personal connections and links to user social networks.
This is not the latest Facebook scandal, as in late March it was found that the passwords of some 600 million users had been stored for months and that social network employees had accessed.
Facebook explained there was no breach of user accounts.
