According to the results, humorist Volodymyr Zelensky, who entered the race without ever having a political career, has managed to win 70% support.
Zelensky, 41, challenged President Petro Porosenko, who built the campaign by calling to nationalism.
“will never disappoint you”, Zelensky said in front of his supporters.
“I am not yet the official president” he added. “But as a citizen of Ukraine, I can tell all states of the former Soviet Union: Look at us. Anything is possible! ”
The president in Ukraine has a huge political power in terms of security, defence and foreign affairs.
