Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti has asked the government and the Mirash deposit company to open bank accounts in the first place to enable waste collection by the waste company, the Cleaningery, in order not to endanger citizens' health.
Ahmeti through Facebook has also cast doubts that the situation created with the issue of waste in the Pristina region is politically motivated.
Ahmeti's Full Reaction
The cleaning company is regional companies that do garbage collection for several municipalities in the Pristina region. Cleaning waste is sent to the Deposit in Miras, which is managed by the central level -- the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
They pay money for the garbage dump. Before 2012 The cleanup has not paid them in order and has generated debts of over 1m euros.
Amazingly, the Deponia (government company) has now sent the cleanup (the regional company) to completion and has its bank accounts, in which case it has left the company without oil. There's also a substantial amount of tools. Thus, garbage collection in all municipalities in Pristina region has been endangered.
We ask the government and the Mirash deposit company to open accounts as soon as possible so that the health of the citizens will not be endangered. There's no point in a public company risking the health of hundreds of thousands of my citizens. And it doesn't make sense for citizens to pay for mismanaging the cleaning company for many years.
We hope this is not being done for political reasons.
The Pristina municipality will urgently borrow oil for the company, but this situation is unstable.
