In the tradition of my people, there is an old expression, but always the current: the good friend is known in difficult times. So said Kosovo Parliament Speaker Kadri Veselin, in hosted by the Kosovo Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, where over 200 participants were present, senior Japanese state officials, representatives of the diplomatic choir accredited in Tokyo and artists.
As Kosovo's Assembly Information Office reports, before those present, Prime Minister Veselin said that last month Kosovo celebrated its 11th anniversary of independence and, according to him, the same age has relations with Japan, because Japan was among the first countries to recognise Kosovo's sovereign and independent state.
The head of the Parliament said relations between the two countries are the best example to show that true friendship knows no geographic distances, no human barriers.
Your “Your people did not accept indifference, overcome great human and geographical distances, which stand between our two countries, and were found near when we needed vital support. Therefore, I have the honor and privilege that tonight, in this friendly environment, in the name of the people of Kosovo, I thank the Japanese people and government for the great support they have given us for two decades now. We will never forget your support. Today, our children grow up with a sense of respect for your country and many other lands. We have a common name for you and these countries. We call you our freedom friends”, Wessel stressed.
Following his speech, Wessel said his visit to Japan aims to help deepen further relations between the two countries. He said that in the coming year, the Japanese Embassy in Pristina is expected to begin work, and Kosovo citizens are eager to see Japan's flag waved into Pristina's sky.
“We want to have Japanese presence in all areas of life. You are a great nation, from which we want to learn the exemplary values, the work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, the whole example of a society that, above the ruins of war, built a successful, inspiring model for the whole world”, said Chief Parliamentary Veseli.
