Most people who clean their chickens think they're washing germs. And while they're correct in assuming that raw chicken is often filled with bacteria, like salmonella, washing it with water, you don't do anything to fight that fact. In fact, chicken washing exacerbates this problem because running water can spread bacteria around sinks, dishes, and even your clothes.
U n The SDA states that the only sure way to eliminate bacteria is to cook meat at the right temperature. These rules apply to other types of meat. The minimum chicken cooking temperature should be 165 degrees.
