Gased Langs and More Sugar Drinks may be linked to an increase in risk for early death, according to a new study by Harvard University. Researchers collected dietary information from more than 100,000 health professionals and found that the more sugar drinks consumed a week, the more likely the users were to die during the study period.
“These findings are in line with the known negative effects of high sugar consumption on metabolic risk factors and hard evidence that sweet drinks increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, which is the main risk factor for early death”, said research co-author Walter Willett in a statement.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children consume no more than six teaspoons of sugar added a day and only one drink of sugar a week.
This new study highlighted the problem and found that the high amount of soft fluids led to more problems. Drinking between two and six sugar drinks a week increased the overall risk of death by 6%. One drink a day increased the risk by 14%; two or more to 21%.
This study included participants between the ages of 35 and 75, when the risk of death for the general population is about 1 in 358 or 0.2.8%.
Parents should reduce their sugar and remove it from their children's diet whenever possible. However, your children shouldn't be completely deprived of very lovely drinks for them as Coca Cola.
The most valuable advice is: Everything in moderate amount.
