These two situations have nothing to do with each other. What happened in Kosovo has nothing to do with the state of Catalonia” said Spanish Foreign Minister asked by Radio Free Europe if it is the Catalan issue why Spain does not recognise Kosovo.
Following talks with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, the chief of Spanish diplomacy said his country rejects Kosovo's independence, but also seeks compromise solutions within dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
“reiterated the president and foreign minister's stance on rejecting Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence. At the same time, we think that only through dialogue can come to a compromise solution on this matter” said Borel at a news conference.
President Vuciq's cabinet has announced that during the meeting, he has said Serbia behaves responsibly because it has fulfilled all obligations by Brussels agreements.
“Pristina in the meantime with the dialog platform has shown it is against dialog” Vuciq has said.
Borel, who is standing on a visit to Serbia, reportedly has said recognition of Kosovo is unacceptable because “opposes international law”.
