Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, in an interview for Neue Zurcher Zeitung, has spoken of correcting the borders as part of the Kosovo agreement, if the two sides agree.
In an interview for the Swiss newspaper NZZ, he has said this change of borders occurs naturally.
“This is a natural thing,” is expressed, while stressing that Kosovo's borders in Montenegro and Macedonia have been redefined in recent years.
At the same time, Edi Rama has declared that Albania is not involved in negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia.
” What the final agreement should look like, Kosovo and Serbia” should decide, he says.
Although the United States of America is promoting a final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken of a new border line that would be possible.
“Ethnic borders should absolutely be avoided”, he claims, while suggesting that if there is anything to say, Albania will support any agreement that enjoys the support of the European Union and the United States of America.
As for the issue called Mini-Schengen in the Balkans for removing the border with Kosovo and Albania, according to Edi Rama, it is not only the border with Kosovo that should be affected.
“We want to present the Schengen model at border control throughout the country”.
However, this is only about the process of approaching the European Union, he says.
We want to be part of Europe and one day part of the Schengen” system.
It calls efforts to ease border controls a <x0 pro-active attitude towards the future”.
