The president's formula for CEC members that could bring down Haradinaj Government

The office of president of the Republic of Kosovo has indicated that new members of the CEC will be appointed today, following the conclusion of all procedures and completion of subjects.

Thus, new members today will be sworn in before President Hashim Thaci.

President Thaci to close the issue of naming these members has selected the formula for competing political parties in the elections.

So two members will meet coalition PAN, two other LDKI coalitions, Alternatives and AKRU, as well as two other members, will be from the Vetevendosje Movement ranks.

This selected formula was also witnessed with the sending of invitations to members will be sworn before the president today.

Thus, Adnan Rrustemi and Nazlie Bala from Vetevendosje, Ilir Gashi (PDK) and Ibrahim Selmanaj (AAK) are expected to be decreed today by the coalition PAN and Florian Dusi and Sami Hamiti from LDK.

The invitation for the CEC membership decree has not been received by the Social Democrat Party, which has nominated Marigna Drevinja and Social Democrat Initiative, which have proposed Ashref Visaj.

Social Democrat Initiative MP Albulana Balaj ılaj has said that if this party does not have members of the CEC, then it will become part of the motion for the government's collapse.

Speaking at RTK's “mage”, she has said the president is committing constitutional violations by not inviting the subject where she is to be part of the CEC, because according to her, this party has the constitutional right to participate in the CEC.

She said they will appeal the verdict to the Constitutional Court, and expects the PDK and AAK to join here. But if they don't participate, then the Social Democrat Initiative itself will send this issue to Constitutional.

According to her, if NISMA does not have representatives in the CEC, then very soon there will be elections, and this process, according to her, can also precede this party, which is currently part of the government, with three ministers of a deputy prime minister.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci had been proposed to two formulas on how to appoint the new members of the CEC to each parliamentary group to meet by a member or other formula for the ruling coalition to have two members, as well as the two parties that are in opposition (LDK – VV).

President Hashim Thaci, months earlier, had also addressed the issue to the Constitutional Court, but had not specified how to split mandates to the Central Election Commission.

On this issue, Democratic Party of Kosovo deputy leader Arsim Bajrami spoke last night, which is also one of the creators of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.

In KTV's Rubik, he said political parties that make constitutional complaints to the president are unlikely to receive positive answers, as the president himself is based on a court ruling.

He is even surprised that political parties are not reaching consensus for members of the CEC when they arrived for coalitions.

The “parliamentary groups can reach agreement between themselves on how to represent in the CEC. Within the coalitions it had to be discussed on these issues. The law has not regulated this issue, if a smaller party in the coalition can propose candidate. Under the Constitutional Court ruling, parliamentary groups propose candidates, who have been competing in the elections. Within the coalition, candidates must be found out. If I don't understand, then I guess they haven't even learned when they made the coalitions. There must be trust among political parties on these issues”, Bajrami said in Rubikon.

Otherwise, the American Embassy in Kosovo has expressed concern over the failure to appoint ten representatives to the Central Election Commission.

Through a reaction to the media, the US Embassy had said that the “failure to appoint the representatives has made it impossible for the CEC to perform its key functions”.

The US Embassy has asked President Thaci to immediately appoint the representatives to the CEC for the response, to return this institution's ability to work faithfully and independently for the benefit of the people of Kosovo./ P ERISCOPIA
