According to a new survey, a large proportion of parents previously want their child to have a good salary as an adult rather than a generous or sincere one.
The 2,000 - parent British survey has found that 1 in 20 parents wants children more success than happiness and 1 in 6 of their parents only have a career in their mind.
More than half of parents have also said that they constantly tell their children what lessons to learn at school so that they can have a better career.
However, mothers and fathers have different ideas about what a desirable career is for a child.
Mothers are more likely to want their child to pursue the career of engineering or manufacturing industry.
On the other hand, fathers are more willing to have their daughter or son do programming.
Fathers have also favoured careers in business and management, accounting and education, while none of the surveyed mothers have indicated that their child wants to work as a sales agent.
