In this case, it was stressed that Kosovo has shortcomings in women's engagement in decision-making processes, and greater commitment is needed to function.
Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said that in Kosovo it has always been dedicated to advancing the role of women where, according to him, many taboos have been removed, while he said the challenge remains to convey inheritance to the property that is having problems.
The quota rate, initially unfair, is now back at the rate that is constantly being respected. I hope all political parties preserve the role for women to be represented”, he said.
American Ambassador Philip Costnett said that empowering women is not just women's business, but is everyone's responsibility. Speaking of the role of women in Kosovo society, the US diplomat said about 50 per cent of the population in Kosovo are being hampered in society by not being part of decision-making processes.
When people hear the word integrity, they think about honesty, but there is another word that concerns unity, impartiality, completeness. And Kosovo is not complete, 50 percent of its population is hampered in society. When women are part of the decision-making process, it increases the productivity of a country. When women serve in government, they are less corrupt. Women in Kosovo are doing big things”, he said.
Ambassador Kosnet asked Prime Minister Haradinaj, that about 50 per cent of his cabinet be women.
While Pristina Foundation Court Judge Donica Dobruna expressed happiness in her commitment. Citing the rule of law in Kosovo, he said he must be more efficient and independent.
