Italy's Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvin, has reiterated the promise to change Europe when his centre-right coalition won a big victory in the southern region of Basilica, finishing the 24-year rule of the left.
The Baslicata is the third region won by the coalition, including Salvin's far-right League of Italian Berlusconi Forza and a smaller far-right party, Italy's Brothers. This party group reached 43 percent of the vote.
For a year we have tripled the party's votes, victory in the Basilicatha as well! ” posted Matteo Salvini on Twitter. “Goodbye to the left, and now to change Europe. ”
Sunday's vote marked another depressing result in regional elections for the M5S, a result that will now boost the party's influence within the country's coalition level.
