This is the third sentence for the American company in the last two years.
European Commissioner for Competition Margret Vestager said at a news conference in Brussels that Google has abused a dominant position in order to force internet sites to use its advertising platform, AdSesen.
The European Commission has determined that Google and its mother Alphabets company have violated EU antimonopic regulations by imposing restrictive clauses on contracts with websites using AdSesen.
“Marketers and owners of the pages have had fewer choices and have faced higher prices going to consumers”, Vestager said.
Last year, EU regulators sentenced Google to 4.34 billion euros because it used its Android operating system to block rivals.
This followed a 2.42 billion-euro punishment from 2017 to the company for abuse of dominant position in the market.
