How to prepare for the crucial meeting. Anyone who wants to increase the chances of finding a proper job has to find a method, move with order and more channels
But what are the traps to avoid along the way? Here are the advice of experts.
Not in big numbers.
Once targets are identified, it's clear that sending life stories hundreds of times with e-mail doesn't make sense. Instead, it makes sense for CV to travel to different channels: employment centres, social networks, specialised newspapers and magazines, but also career days, workshops and fairs.
In these events, we need to bring in some copies of the CV that will be delivered to companies, along with a strong and obedient handshake. Take into account the references of the people you come in contact with, maybe looking for a business card, to send an e-mail later, in order to reaffirm your interest.
Cv photo attention
CV should never contain false or inflated experiences, or spelling mistakes. Attention also in the photo: “How incredible it is that there are still those who choose wedding photos or bath clothes”, notes Giuseppe Biazzo, director of the Agency for Labour Orients. In view of these objects, the only CV “right” is what is rewritten and personalised every time: you may have an initial conspiracy, but then you must restructure the plot considering the format (European, traditional or creative?) Favored by a company, the characteristics of the latter and above all the position that has been applied.
Even the letter should be motivation, not presentation or association”: we need to explain why we want to fill that role and which elements of our professional history make us the most appropriate person.
Not allowed to improvise
Coming face - to - face with those who can take us is the time to show even the soft skills, qualities of character that have little to do with technical skills but who often tell the difference. The secret is the study, says Alexis Sotocorno, sales director of Seltis, a group company specialising in mid- and senior staff selection: “to receive not only information about company activity, its history and the situation that is being experienced at that moment, for example, in competition. But you also ask about the person doing the interview. Through the internet and social networks today all these elements can be found quite easily”.
However, Sotocorno adds, that “is useless to do brilliant if you're not, you can hit the conversationor even by being calm. The ideal attitude toward the interview is summed up in four: “Natural, educated, formal and interested”.
Never underestimate the shape
The “form case” is more sensitive: to reconcile it with nature and lack of claims is not easy. Our body speaks, it's important to possess this nonverbal language. “Not looking into the eyes of your interviewers or sitting in confusion are symptoms of concern”, notes Mariangela Lupi, head of Adecco Human Development and Education.
The same is true of <x0.0 folding arms or playing a lot with pages”, adds Isabel Covili Faggioli, president of the Italian Association of Staff Directors, who also advises against “the review of the interviewers' letters, trying to read”. This does not mean, however, that we should not expose ourselves, rather: “The cliche answer depends on the question is a” error, according to the Zonca. Better to state that we have an opinion, though with the needed tenderness”.
Do Not Speak Badly of the Past
Since in the past you've been overlooked by less competent, unreasonable colleagues treated badly by the boss, who've done overtime or had no promises made to you, know that, in these aspects, the new interview is better to keep quiet.
To complain about your previous work experience, to say you're “traumatized” is a mistake, “not so much because of a shape hypocrisy, but because it's important that even the worst experiences become positive”, says Zonka. It is better, then, to think that “are the very difficult moments from which the best options --” arise.
Too many ideas? Confuse
Finding a job requires “a method and a strategic action plan”, explains Alice Zonca, project manager and career adviser to Randstad, the second largest human resource service company in the world. Between being unemployed or just wanting to change, the first mistake has no clear intentions: do you want to be a worker or a Freelancer? And, in the first case, in a big company or a small company, maybe innovative, but more dangerous?
The reward is an important factor, but in these preliminary reflections we must also include the responsibilities, times and environment that we want in our future employment.
