“Albania and North Macedonia both completed their homework, necessary for the start of membership talks, is ordering the delegation of the European Parliament's Foreign Political Board”, the statement said.
The EP statement stresses that 2019 is key for northern Macedonia and Albania, because member states in June will decide on the two countries' readiness to open membership talks.
North Macedonia's “Macedonia and Albania made key reforms under difficult circumstances, and now it is important that EU members on the basis of those achievements accept the progress achieved and decide to start membership talks this year”, the statement noted.
The delegation of the European Parliament's Foreign Political Board of February 27th through March 1st remained in Tirana and Skopje called on the two countries to maintain focus on the scope of the judiciary, economy, rule of law and public administration.
MP Tune Kelam, who headed this delegation, warned that even in addition to the determination shown in implementing reforms, there is a lack of national unity, which could undermine the process of EU integrations of northern Macedonia and Albania.
