Continue pressure: America brings to Kosovo a top diplomat, tax cause

In two letters sent to the president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, had expressed his administration's interest in using the moment created for reaching a final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
The US president, also in his papers, had demanded that actions be avoided which block the process of dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade.
His two letters at the address of President Thaci had come after the government's decision of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Ramush Haradinaj, for imposing a 100 per cent tax on Serbian products, which was asked to be suspended in a third letter of the US State Department, and on which the implications for Kosovo were warned.
The US's strategic interest in achieving a Kosovo-Serbia final solution that would establish peace in the Balkans for a long time, and on the other hand, the resistance of the Government's leader to suspend the tax on Serbian goods has led the administration of Donald Trump to send senior state officials to Kosovo.
The visit of two senior US officials from the National Security Council, John Earth and Brad Berkeley will follow the visit of the number three US State Department, David Hale.
This has been confirmed by the US Embassy in Pristina.
Hale plans to stay in Kosovo for a two-day visit, on March 8th and 9th.
“Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the State Department, David Hale, plans to be in Pristina on March 8th-9th”, the US Embassy for Express confirms.
The American diplomat during his visit to Kosovo will meet with the heads of state.
“It will meet with various state leaders”, the American Embassy's response follows.
David Hale took over his post of Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs on August 30th, 2018. He served as ambassador to Pakistan, Lebanon, was a special envoy for peace in the Middle East, and ambassador to Jordan, de had also served on the American Mission to the UN.
During 2008/9, Hale in Washington had been deputy secretary of State for Israel, Egypt and Levant [region in Asia]. He has also been Director of Affairs between Israel during 2001-03.
Hale had also been executive assistant to Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
American diplomat Hale was also awarded several awards for his work throughout his career.
