Duncan spoke of the challenges and priorities Kosovo has spent in the past 11 years, since the state was declared.
Speaking of an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, the British minister has said that the “achievement of the agreement based on changing borders jeopardises stability in Kosovo-Serbia and risks setting a precedent that can be used by the third parties in the region and beyond”.
On the other hand, he welcomed the establishment of the Kosovo State Delegation and stressed that progress in the negotiations requires all sides to respect Kosovo's democratic right to determine how and by whom, the country is represented”.
Recognising the current disputes between Kosovo governments and Serbia, Duncan called on both sides to lower tensions and return to negotiations.
Meanwhile, regarding the fee imposed by Kosovo, he stressed that “with our international partners we have asked the Kosovo government to determine the steps it intends to take to suspend tariffs and enable a return to dialogue”.
