Albania's president, Ilir Meta, has also recalled this date.
“Forever grateful to US and NATO, for this extraordinary contribution”, writes Albanian President Ilir Meta on Facebook, praising that military intervention as the decision that ended the genocide of ethnic cleansing and preceded Kosovo's independence,
“Today it is 20 years old from the day NATO decided to intervene to impose peace by ending the genocide of ethnic cleansing and prior to Kosovo's independence, which strengthened peace and stability in our region. Ever grateful to the US and NATO, for this extraordinary contribution. Currently 10-year NATO member Albania remains fully committed to protecting the values of freedom, peace and security in our region and throughout the world”, Meta writes. / TCh/
