New Zealand Prime Minister Yacinda Ardern said the government has agreed to issue a document to improve the tax framework in the country and ensure that multinational companies pay a fair share of the tax.
Our current tax system is not fair in the way we treat individual taxpayers, and how it treats those multinationals,” said Ardern at a press conference.
The value of digital services in New Zealand has been estimated at some $2.7 billion in New Zealand or $1.86 billion.
Tax revenue valued for digital services is between $90m and $80m in New Zealand, Finance Minister Grant Robertson said in a statement.
