Republic of Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev today has received a letter from United States President Donald Trump, AlsatM reports.
American President Donald Trump's full letter:
On behalf of the American people, I congratulate you on ratifying and implementing the Prespa Agreement. This is the biggest historic achievement for the Balkans since the signing of the Dayton Agreement and testifies to your bold leadership. With your efforts and the efforts of Prime Minister Tsipras you have managed to secure a stable and prosperous future, not just for your countries, but for the entire region. Your country will now take its place in the North Atlantic Alliance as the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
I hope the Prespa Agreement serves as an inspiration to other countries in the region. The agreement highlights the fundamental truth that with political courage and ability to focus on long-term benefits against risks in the short-term plan, leaders can make difficult compromises needed to guide their countries on the path to a brighter future.
Once again I congratulate the leadership and the commitment to bringing this process to the end, from negotiations, ratification until its full implementation. Northern Macedonia is a major partner of the United States. We are happy that we will welcome you as our 30th ally in NATO, and continue our joint efforts to ensure peace and prosperity in the Western Balkans.
