Kosovo Police Director Rashit Qalaj says Drinas police case undermines police image
The case of police officer from Drenas, who is allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old man has shaken the opinion.
Shocked also is Police Director Rashit Qalaj, since the Drenas case has damaged the security institution that directs him.
Qalaj requires that this case be cleared as soon as possible by the respective institutions.
We as police official are very concerned with these allegations, because we are the ones who should protect the lives of citizens, and the police should be considered the first line of defense for all, and especially for victims of different cases. Our police official I don't know, but these allegations have damaged the image of the Kosovo Police, normally damaged even the minor or female who is levelled in this case”
The first police officer has asked the Police and Prosecutor's Inspectorate to investigate in detail the case of the police officer from Drenas, while demanding greater commitment from his superiors, to identify the policemen who misuse his uniform.
I've also asked all superiors to increase surveillance and inspection of police officials everywhere in Kosovo, especially from the aspect of activities contrary to the law and that are contrary to police ethics as our” officers are operating.
And to do so, the chief of police is also seeking the support of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.
I and my staff have discussed the possibility that AKI would verify security for all personal in the Kosovo Police, even with the uniformed and civilian staff, so that we could have a police officer with the highest integrity of”.
Qalaj stressed that very soon the number of policemen working and acting on them will also be publicized, as long as he has ensured that the measure will be good for them.
We remember that during the time when Bajram Rexhepi was now minister of Internal Affairs at his request, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency had begun the process of verifying police officials.
This test was subjected to the highest leaders of this institution.
But some of the directors had proved negative on this test, including Kosovo Police General Director Shpend Maximu.
Shortly after the process of verification began, public blackmail had begun for AKI officials. So the whole process failed. /Periscopi
