Japan's Minister of State for the Olympics, Yositaka Sakurada, has apologised publicly after arriving three minutes late at a parliamentary meeting.
Opposition MPs said that, with his delay, the minister showed disrespect and, in sign of protest, boycotted the Committee's meeting for Buzhet for 5 hours.
The BBC writes that the opposition in Japan has been the following critical of the minister, who is in charge of organising the Olympic Games “Tokio 2020” following a series of gaffes that Sakurada has made through public statements.
Last week, the minister said it was left in the mud by swimmer Ricako Ikee, as she would not participate in the games because of her diagnosis of leukemia, while he said expectations of her winning medals were great, Kosovo Press broadcasts.
Last year, Yoshiaka Sakurada, who is also minister of Cyber Security, said that he had never used a computer and that his work was delegated to someone else.
The opposition is insisting on his resignation.
