Deputy Prime Minister Hoxhaj stressed that mission UNMIK was conducted a decade ago, and the testimony to this is the successful construction of the state in Kosovo.
In a Twitter post, Hoxhaj wrote that Kosovo should be a member of the UN so that this organisation will have a new role in Kosovo, as in other countries.
“we welcome the UN Security Council's decision to rarely reduce periodic meetings for UNMIK. This mission has fulfilled its mandate a decade ago, and the best evidence to that effect is the successful construction of state and peace in the state. Kosovo should be a member of the UN so that this organisation will have a new role in our country, as in other countries”, Deputy Prime Minister Hoxhaj has written.
The Security Council made the decision that four meetings per year for Kosovo are excessive, given that the situation in Kosovo is calm.
The pressure to reduce the collection came from Great Britain, Germany and the United States, while being strongly opposed by Russia and Serbia.
